Love kicks fear out

September 26, 2017 Posted by Kellee Uncategorized No Comments

As I continue this journey into building a successful business as well as an authentically love filled life, I find that there are days when fear catches me off-guard. Just last week, I woke up to a racing heart and overcome with thoughts of not being enough. As I took my concerns to God in meditation, a song started playing in my head and heart. I am horrible with lyrics and frequently butcher songs, which is why I am so thankful for Google and the people who take time to transcribe song lyrics.

What I heard was “Find rest put your hope in God.” Google revealed this to be an incomplete line from Francesca Battistelli’s “Find Rest” on her “If We’re Honest” album. I let the song play over me for several minutes, just soaking in the lyrics. The song says, “find rest my soul put your hope in God. But it was the last line of the first verse that stop me in my tracks. “No fear ever catches Him by surprise.” Amazed by God’s tenderness, I let that marinate in my heart. Letting His perfect love cast out the fear in my head, by filling up my heart (1 John 4:18).

I am very familiar with Psalms 139, so it wasn’t like I didn’t know that He was aware of my fears. I think that while my head knew, my heart needed a reminder. And maybe so does yours.

So today, I want to take time to tell that God knows you better than you know yourself. He knows your flaws, failures, and fears. God knew them before He created you. Jesus went to the Cross to bear the weight of the world’s transgressions with you on His mind. You were his motivation. Not the world, but you. Sometimes, it’s hard to believe that God loves us as individuals, not only as the collective body. But scripture tells us that He knows the number of every hair on your head. Not the number of hairs on our head, but the number of every hair on your head, just marinate on that for a minute.

I wanted to be practical this month and talk about expectations, but God had other plans. Check out the song, let it wash over you as you pour out your heart to God. Let his unconditional love fill your heart and replace your doubts. You are worthy of so much more than you know. You are, just as I am, His Treasure.
